605 cases (4 fatal) of Cholera have been reported from 34 provinces
in Thailand, from 1st Jan. to 26th Oct. this year
(Bureau of Epidemiology, Department of disease Control,
Ministry of public health (Update)). The North East area
(KhonKaen, UdonThani, Loei) showed particularly high incidence from Sep.
to Oct.. Patients have reportedly consumed raw or half-cooked cockle
coming from the provinces SamutSakorn, Surat-Thani and Ranong
(Thairath newspaper 26 Oct 2007). The researchers of RCC-ERI are
investigating in the field now.
