Fifteen infectious disease research groups, which belong to the
various departments of Osaka University, collaborate with each other
at the initiative of Research Institute for Microbial Diseases.
In addition, Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine,
Medical Institute of Bioregulation of Kyushu University,
Osaka Prefectural Institute of Public Health, and National Institute
of Animal Health will participate in research conducted by this center.
In terms of overseas operation, a research base will be established
within the National Institute of Health in cooperation
with the Department of Medical Sciences of the Thai Ministry of
Public Health. The international research center including
the oversea research base aims to foster young scientists in the field
of infectious diseases in Japan and Southeast Asia.
Through these activities, a system will be established to control
emerging and reemerging infectious diseases based on an international
cooperation basis.
